Some Helpful Information About Services from ATRON!!!

Hello! I have decided to send out a little interior design letter to many of the people I know and to anyone who might have an interest in doing their interior now or in the future.

I remember one of my interior design books from college was titled “Criteria for Decision” and how appropriate in today’s world although the book was written many, many years ago (in the 70s)! It seems we are living in a time where everyone is being bombarded with too much information and sometimes nothing relevant to their design decision.

After completing my degree in Interior Design from the University of Illinois and working in Chicago, I eventually opened my own interior design firm based in Champaign. I served on the Board of Directors of the State Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and was asked to be the professional liaison to the students at the University of Illinois.  I was then invited to teach a senior studio class “Structures” where we studied a residential and commercial structure and the students did a real life project. This project had to work in the real world and was judged by real clients and contractors.

An interior design can be achieved using what you already have! I have done seminars called “Doing A Lot With What You’ve Got” and I started an adult “Live and Learn” class at Parkland with the same title. This can be valuable to some clients and can be useless to others who want everything to be new but nonetheless interesting to all.  Interior design has limitless possibilities!!!

But the single most important thing you can do is to develop a plan and I can help you with that. This plan should not be based on furniture or material sales, it should be a direct result of studying the function of your space and choosing appropriate items. Once a plan is developed the working elements of the three dimensional space can be completed. This design development is what achieves your successful end result.

We represent a quality product in all of our interiors and have a full spectrum of suppliers and services - from one yard of fabric to an entire house or office and can do as little or as much as you need to complete your project.

Steps we follow in our design process are the following:

1.     Function

2.     Beauty

3.     Client Tastes and Preferences

4.     Interior Architecture of the Space

5.     Budget

As one of the oldest and most experienced firms working in Champaign and Central Illinois, we also travel to any destination to do interiors and have worked across the nation and internationally. The landscape is constantly shifting therefore you need a designer who understands the past, the present and the future! That present includes all age groups who appreciate Interior Design and the future includes our aging population and Aging in Place Services, including downsizing!

We have done many charity events, entertainment, open houses, garden soiree’s, art shows and custom trips to the Chicago Merchandise Mart to see the array of possibilities in 3D; we like to have FUN!
